I just returned from a conference in Washington D.C. at which New America launched a well written primer for geospatial practitioners, land administrators and stake holders: Drones and Aerial Observation: New Technologies for Property Rights, Human Rights, and Global Development:
We are pleased to see that our work has enabled us to contribute to this well written book. Not only is it good news about drones, it is also a long overdue recognition about the usefulness of drones in planning and managing land use. Hopefully the big development agencies will take note and finally start to embrace the idea of decentralized mapping capacities, even if it takes somewhat smaller contracts to bring mapping services to the local level.
